October is Outta Here!

Posted: November 1, 2012 in Monthly Recaps

Wow…. so many facial hair variations….

Happy Day-After-Too-Many-Mini-Twix-Bars! Yeah…. I had a few…. And then another few…. Oh well. Today is a new day. And a new month.

It’s No-Shave November…. But, if you’re not keen on participating in those “festivities,” then you should participate in mine—No-Excuses November. Make a pact with yourself to get in a little bit of exercise every single day. Yes, really. Every. Single. Day. It could be a walk, parking far away from buildings and only taking the stairs, doing a BodyRock workout, an Amanda Russell workout, one of my many workouts, a YouTube workout, a DVD, hitting the gym, or taking a class. Anything.

Tis time to recap October. Bow-chica-wow-wow! (I’m kinda sick, really stressed, and running off sleep that feels more like passing out due to emotional overload, so bear with me!)

Quote-tastic
“Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired.” –George S. Patton

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” –Maria Robinson

“Anticipate the difficult by managing the easy.” –Lao Tsu

“Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.” –Napoleon Hill

“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.” –Buddha

I love pumpkins! I’m no good at carving them, but they’re so cute 🙂

YAY! I can finally play my favorite month-inspired theme song. “October” by The Crane Wives. Such a good jam. It’s both motivating and calming. But mostly calming. Relaxing. Entrancing. I loves it!

Today’s post should’ve happened yesterday, but I hate missing Motivation Monday, so today is Recap Tuesday. Sum-up Tuesday. Totally Tuesday? I’m at a loss for an alliteration and it angers me. Oh well, I shall move on.

September flew by. Holy, hello, month that hosts Halloween! (Yes, I love Halloween, too!) What’d you miss in September amidst the back-to-school, no-more-vacation-ness? Lots.

August Wrap-Up

Posted: September 3, 2012 in Monthly Recaps

Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Just push harder.

It is officially one of my two favorite months of the year! (And no, not just because my birthday is in it.) I love Fall—apples, leaves turning, soccer, college football, memories of walking around MSU’s gorgeous campus, the smells, cooler weather…. I just love it!

In order to fully move on to and enjoy September, we gotta wrap up August first!

This has nothing to do with June or anything really, except that I needed to read those words again. It’s been that kind of week and month!

Another week and month has gotten away from me. Where is the summer going!? Although, I must admit, it’s hard to consider this time of year “summer” since I know work year-round and pretty much 7 days a week. It doesn’t matter if it’s snowing or sunny, cold or humid. I work. Inside, outside, air conditioning, heat. Today is a day just like any other. (Cue Jack’s Mannequin.)

And today is a monthly wrap-up day. WOOT! Missed some (all) of my posts this month? Do not cry, my friend! I will recap it all for you.

What’s Left of May

Posted: June 2, 2012 in Monthly Recaps

This is a good goal! Do it to it!

June is here! And it’s cold in Michigan. Like Fall-style cold. I’m not a huge fan of it, even though I love Fall. It’s not time for Fall yet, though. It’s time for jogs outside and beach volleyball and napping in the sun.

My challenge for everyone is to pick one meh point from May and improve on it. Did you spend three nights a week drinking? Trim it down to two. Did you only get to the gym three days a week? Amp it up to four. Increase your intake of fresh fruits and veggies and natural, raw foods (like almonds) and decrease your take-out stops. Little things. They add up big time.

My goals? Focus on drinking a glass of water with every meal or before every snack so I don’t mindlessly eat; pair a glass of water with my alcoholic beverage; try to limit my s’more and ice cream intake to twice/week; find ways to get up and move more when I’m doing freelance, no matter what!
