I know, I know…. ice cream for lunch isn’t the best idea 😦

Despite doing work all weekend long, I found myself relaxing a bit. My week of what-the-heck-am-I-doing was finally over and I could plan for a new, better week. I felt like I was kicked down repetitively all week—some by my own doing and perception—but I somehow managed to get myself up every time and find the positive side. (Thanks in part to my mom and Doug. Love you two!) Now, I look at the quotes I chose for today and every single one of them applies to my view for myself for this week and for all weeks to come.

Do we fall? Yes. Do we get hurt? Yes. Do we feel like we fail? Yes. What I’m learning is how to pick myself up, brush the dirt off—or hell, keep it on to look tough :)—find some positives (I can walk, I am independent, I have all of my senses, I have friends, family, and a boyfriend who support and comfort me, God gave me peanut butter and banana sandwiches….), find out where I went wrong, and learn from it. And then, of course, move forward with my head up. This last bit is hardest for me, and for most women, I think, because when we feel like we let ourselves and more so someone else we care about down, it hurts. And we feel horrible. And it wrecks us emotionally and weakens us mentally. I’m going to work on trying to be less “like a girl” and “man-up” with my emotions more. Because there’s nothing wrong with looking out for yourself sometimes and growing a thicker, tougher, braver skin.

Here’s what I think you should check out this week to keep you going….

What You Should Read
Pop
– We drink it on the beach, at a party, at a bon fire, and use it as a mixer…. But, it’s not so good for your health.

Ice cream, potato chips, hummus, grilled meats – tis the season for a popular uncomfy side-effect of all of these foods: bloating. It’s not friendly; so this article talks about how you can try to avoid it.

Mix It Up!
“Where Have You Been?/Turn Me On” by The Crane Wives
“Bushes” by Hot Chelle Rae
“We Are Rockstars” by Does It Offend You Yeah

Word to Your…. Emotionally-Charged Brain
“Money can’t buy life.” –Bob Marley

“It’s not that some people have willpower and some don’t. It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not.” –James Gordon

“It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.” –Albert Einstein

When-in-Doubt Workout
It’s a holiday/travel-y week and I know that means less time in the gym. But you don’t need a gym, and you don’t need equipment, and you don’t even need much time to feel stronger and a little healthier.

When in doubt, do sets of 10 of the following:
1. Squats
2. Pushups
3. Lunges
4. Jumping jacks
5. A 10-30-second plank

Do as many sets as you can, as fast as you can with good form, and voila! A solid, equipment-free, do-anywhere workout.
