The Fondest of February

I strive to be strong and healthy because that is what I think beauty truly is. (Hence my blog's lil tagline!)Like my little alliteration there in the headline? I was proud of it 🙂

Now, it may currently be cold, windy, and snowy, but spring is coming… I can feel it! (Please, good gosh, let’s hope I didn’t just jinx everything!)

How was your shortest-month-of-the-calendar-year? Are you sticking to your New Year’s Resolutions? Do you still remember what they are? It’s never too late to start again or hop back on the good-health train! Seriously, every day is a good day to make a new, healthy, awesome goal to better yourself. So stay positive and keep moving forward with your eye on whatever prize you’re lookin’ at. Honestly, that’s what I have to do, too. It’s not easy for me either.

Workouts (Moves) to Try:
THE POWER 10
(I made this workout up and you don’t need a gym or equipment!)
10 pushups (preferably on your toes, but rock your knees if you have to!)
9 forward lunges per leg

8 star jumps

7 tricep dips off a bench
6 goblet squats
5 tuck jumps
4 side planks
(2 on each arm, holding each for 10-30 sec.)
3 clockwise and 3 counterclockwise ab circles with your legs
(Lie on your back with your legs together and straight toward the ceiling. Draw 3 clockwise circles with your legs. Then 3 counterclockwise circles.)
2 wall sits
(hold each for 20-60 sec.)
1 forearm plank hold
(shoot for 20-60 sec.)

Yum-Noms to Try:
Kelsey’s Homemade Peanut Butter Cups
Ingredients:
-1-2 bars of dark chocolate (I prefer Dove)
-Natural peanut butter (crunchy or smooth—just make sure the only ingredients are peanuts)

Melt the dark chocolate in a glass bowl in the microwave. Keep the time increments short so you don’t burn the chocolate. Line a muffin tin (either minis or regular size) with muffin papers—you will probably only need 6-12 papers depending on the size of the tin. Once the chocolate is melted, take a spoon and put a small dollop at the bottom of a muffin paper. Take a new spoon and put a small dollop of peanut butter on top of the chocolate, and then top the peanut butter with one more small dollop of chocolate, completely covering the peanut butter. Do this until you run out of chocolate and put the muffin tin into the fridge for at least three hours, and make sure to keep them in the fridge when you’re not enjoying them.
