Motivation Monday

Posted: October 24, 2011 in Music

Another amazingly ideal Fall weekend. The weather was pretty clear and decently warm for being the end of October, and I took advantage of being outside or placing myself near windows as often as possible. I also slept a lot. It felt wonderful 🙂

Your mind will believe anything and everything you tell it. So be nice!

Ideas to Push You Forward:
As we continue to see the hours of daylight decrease at a rapid rate, it’s time for you to come up with a game plan prior to the holidays before you’re beating yourself up about not working out, eating well, etc. How? We talked about goals a bit before, so once you set them, you need to treat them like a road trip. You should outline the steps needed to achieve each goal—like scheduling workouts with your friends or a trainer; making shopping lists before you go to the store and only buying off it; packing your lunch; labeling the vending machine as “off-limits”; and investing in new outfits or products (DVDs, weights, shoes, etc.) to help motivate you to move.

Push yourself through difficult times by putting sticky notes with inspiring messages around your living space.

Some suggestions:
“Dream, work hard, and have fun!”
“Don’t forget to smile and shake your tail feathers today!”
“Drive, Determination, and Passion.”

Talk to Yourself Already!
Like writing yourself notes to put around your place to psych you up, you also need to talk to yourself during workouts. I talked to myself a lot when I was training for my long run earlier this year and it came down to self-motivation at the end. Some things to remind yourself are:
*You deserve to be in great shape!
*You can’t be perfect, but you CAN do this!
*Your health is priority #1!
*The more I move, the happier I’ll become!

Breathe and Meditate… On These Words:
“Getting in shape is multidimensional: It’s about training, nutrition, recovery, and motivation. If you’re not getting results, one of those puzzle pieces is  askew.” – Brett Hoebel, former trainer on The Biggest Loser

“He who has a why can endure any how.” – Nietzsche
